In 2020 ICEJ Canada was blessed to donate several shelters to strategic areas in Israel with special thanks to our donors and supporters.
One of these shelters was in beloved memory of Valerie Sherman. It was placed at a kindergarten in the city of Netivot, located just 14 kilometers from Gaza. Last year, more than 2,300 missiles and rockets were fired into Israel by terror militias in Gaza.
Another was dedicated last January in loving memory to one of our most faithful supporters Ruth Atikinson in Nitzan Bet by Rabbi Bowman and the Ashkelon Region Security Chief Amnon Ziv.
ICEJ Canada works closely with Rabbi Bowman of OLS to continue to instal life saving bomb shelters in areas under daily threat. “We placed a Lifeshield Bell shelter at the ITC Jaffa (sports) branch this past summer. It saved the lives of both Jewish and Arab children. Their goal is to help children from all backgrounds to reach beyond their difficulties, and through the sports, gain self-esteem, self-confidence, and learn to apply these qualities in other areas in their lives.
The cost for a small bell shaped bomb shelter is about $18,000 USD, the steel shelters start at about $27,000 USD per shelter but it can go as high as $42,000 for a largest shelters.
This would be a wonderful project for a large family group, a church or synagogue to undertake and each shelter can be dedicated according to the donor’s request.
One of our 2020 shelters was placed in the north and dedicated to Pastor Teck and the Friends of Jesus Christ Church in Scarborough. Please watch the video report from Rabbi Bowman and Nicole Yoder.
Please watch this short video where ICEJ Canada Executive Director Donna Holbrook talks about why we continue to help protect the people of Israel.
YOU help us reach our goal of providing three shelters in 2021 by undertaking your own fundraiser (we can help), approaching your group with the idea or making a personal donation that will contribute towards the building of a shelter.
Thank you so much on behalf of the people of Israel.
