As the Jewish people gathered to commemorate the sacred day of Yom Kippur, Israel continued to target Hizbullah forces across the border and into southern Beirut with aitstrikes, while Hizbullah has intensified rocket and drone barrages on Haifa and coastal Israel. The most severe instance of these attacks occurred late Sunday when an armed drone hit a IDF base near Binyamina, killing 4 and injuring 60. In other recent news, as we await Israel’s response to Iran’s attack with over 180 ballistic missiles, the US is currently busy deploying its THAAD ballistic missile defense system to Israel to help protect Israel. But this would require a deployment of some 100 US soldiers on Israeli soil, the first such deployment of American troops in Israel during wartime.
