ICEJ Encourages Christians in Georgia to Stand With Israel
Dr. Mojmir Kallus, ICEJ Vice President for International Affairs, visited Georgia in June with violinist and ICEJ regional coordinator Serguei Popov. Dr. Kallus preached at the Assembly of God church led by Bishop Oleg Khubashvili, ICEJ-Georgia National Director and a seasoned minister with a strong reputation among local churches.
Teaching the Next Generation to Pray for Jerusalem
On Saturday, Mojmir also spoke to several hundred people at a youth meeting. They listened intently to his teaching on the importance of Israel as the nation God chose to carry out His salvation plan for the world. On Sunday, Mojmir preached at the main service, which was attended by hundreds of Georgian believers. He also encouraged them to pray for peace in Jerusalem, according to Psalm 122.
Georgia’s Longstanding Friendship With the Jewish People
The church has a good understanding and love for Israel. Hebrew dances were performed at the main service, and anyone visiting the premises is reminded of the Hebrew heritage by a large plaque behind the podium with the Ten Commandments written in Hebrew.
Historically, Georgia is known for peaceful coexistence with Jews for over 2,600 years and for low levels of antisemitism, even today. Many Israelis travel there for vacation, and locals welcome them warmly.
